BOATING ITINERARY: Family Day in the City
Jacksonville is an affordable family destination with so much to do and see, especially on the water!
MORNING:
Launch your boat at the River City Marina in Downtown’s Southbank. Get on the water and ride North on the St. Johns River to Exchange Island for the morning. This 34-acre island sits in the middle of the river under the Mathews Bridge – it’s only accessible via boat. The island has docks, picnic pavilions and hiking trails.
AFTERNOON:
Head over the Museum of Science and History next door. Catch a show at the planetarium and learn about the region’s unique ecosystems. After the Museum, get back on the boat and ride South pass the Riverside, Ortega and San Marco historic neighborhoods. Enjoy the views of historic riverfront houses and mansions. Head South all the way to Goodbys Creek for a taste of old Florida.
DINNER:
Once in Goodbys Creek, dock at Wicked Barley Brewing Company, Florida’s only craft brewery with boater access. It is a fun place to bring the kids with games like jenga and cornhole to play, outdoors seating and a yummy food menu. Get back on your boat and head back towards Downtown as you enjoy Jacksonville’s gorgeous sunset over the river.
